Work cannot be submitted after this hour window has passed and a non-submission will be recorded. If your coursework is not received by the deadline, or within 24 hours of that time, you will see a non-submission on your record. If you haven’t missed any practice placement dates and you submit your work then the implication is that you were fit to attend placement and there were no circumstances that significantly affected your performance. You may be eligible to apply under the missed assessments process instead. Individual pieces of work or exams are also known as elements of assessment. When you apply for an extension you will be asked to let us know whether you have already submitted an earlier version of your work via Blackboard. This shouldn’t happen if you submit an application for an acceptable reason with independent evidence corresponding to the period affected and you haven’t attempted the assessment.

If you need to use the five working day extension process you can normally only submit an application two weeks before the assessment deadline. In order to help you manage these feelings, the University has a number of resources which you can refer to if you’re encountering stress relating to assessments.

Normal stress around exams or coursework deadlines isn’t considered to be an acceptable reason for using one of the processes. Five working day extension for coursework. It will be used except for those assessments where it is either impractical or impossible to do so, for example professional practice assessments, a project or a presentation.
It is important that you read and follow the instructions you are given about this, as it is your responsibility to submit files that staff can read and mark, and to submit them before the submission deadline. If your evidence is not in English, you may be able to use a local authority translation service such as that provided by Bristol City Council.

Adjustments to deadlines cannot normally be considered retrospectively, unless there is a compelling reason why you could not apply in advance of the coursework assessment deadline.
